Processes and Systems Review for a Bathroom Specialist
Company and Project Background
A specialist in bathroom accessories distributor with a facility of around 80,000ft² had been facing several issues related to their warehouse management system (WMS) and processes, affecting their overall supply chain performance.
To address these challenges, the client engaged us, the Supply Chain Consulting Group (SCCG), a supply chain consultancy company with extensive experience in warehouse design and optimization.
Initial Situation and Solutions
During the first step of the project, SCCG identified several issues with the client’s inbound and replenishment processes, as well as an inability to add new locations and zones into the WMS. SCCG also observed ongoing relationship issues with the WMS vendor, which was causing disagreements about support and change requests.
SCCG provided a set of recommendations and actions to resolve the issues and improve the client’s overall warehouse performance. SCCG also facilitated discussions between the client and WMS vendor, to agree on an action plan for implementation.
SCCG reviewed the warehouse processes in line with industry best practices and efficient working for an operation of this size and scale.
SCCG made changes to the proposed warehouse processes, which were then mapped against the capabilities of their WMS and design specifications. SCCG facilitated workshops between the client and the WMS vendor to review the new processes and ensure the changes and functional requirements were clear. SCCG worked with both to agree on which changes should be implementable by the client with training and which should be covered under the support agreement.
Conclusions
In the end, SCCG created a final report that included the to-be processes and agreed next steps for the WMS vendor and the client to implement. SCCG’s expertise and guidance helped the client optimise their warehouse operations and resolve ongoing issues with their WMS vendor.
