The Supply Chain Consulting Group Supports Hallmark Consumer Services

The Supply Chain Consulting Group Supports Hallmark Consumer Services

A family-owned business, Hallmark Consumer Services (Hallmark) is an award-winning fulfilment company. Hallmark was established in March 1992 by Chris Hall and is now managed by Philip Hall, the second generation of the Hall family ownership.

Centrally located in Melton Mowbray, the company specialises in providing businesses across the UK, with a range of outsourced – flexible, transparent, and reliable support.
Collaborating with their customers, Hallmark’s main objective is to deliver first-class tailored services, to help their clients, successfully grow their businesses.

To facilitate the continuous business growth, Hallmark Consumer Services approached SCCG for two warehouse operational review projects; A new strategy and operational capacity plan for their facility in Melton Mowbray, followed by the implementation of a suitable Warehouse Management System (WMS).

For this latter project; the starting point was an initial meeting between The Supply Chain Consulting Group (SCCG) specialist consultants and Hallmark client stakeholders, to identify and agree on the predicted timetable, and approach. This enabled our team to conduct a review of the proposed WMS’s functional specification to identify any potential oversights or omissions.

From this review SCCG provided Hallmark with information for any additional requirements or amendments to the specification, to ensure to properly identify, and propose, the most suitable WMS for Hallmark’s current, specific, and future business requirements.

The SCCG team of specialist consultants conducted an initial review of the warehouse, distribution centre (DC) and operational management to identify the areas of the proposed WMS along with any additional requirements or amendments towards the current processes.

SCCG also reviewed the warehouse and DC and to ensure that the WMS specification met all the demanding operational requirements to support the processes from Goods Receipt through to Final Despatch. The WMS also needed to provide Real Time information to the operational Management team to ensure that tasks were allocated and that daily activities were in-line with operational and customer demands.

Following the review, our team provided Hallmark with detailed information about the WMS system. Additionally, to ensure that the WMS complied with current and future business requirements, the consultants offered on-site and off-site support during the implementation process.

To further ensure smooth project continuity, SCCG supported Hallmark’s Project Manager in establishing the project implementation plan and individuals’ responsibilities; compiling an issues log; assigning an owner to every action; and by collating the process of the project via a record of what decisions were made, who made them, and why.

Our consultants attended site meetings as required with the Hallmark and WMS teams during the pre-installation and installation period of the WMS in order to assist and review the performance and possible oversights of the system.
The overarching achievements upon completion of this project, supplied Hallmark with the necessary and required specification WMS to attain their current business requirements; whilst simultaneously further enabling them to plan for the achievement of their future business targets.

“The Supply Chain Consulting Group specialist consultants reviewed our current warehouse and DC to understand the operational processes and identify the areas of the proposed WMS. During the pre-installation and implementation period of the WMS, the experienced consultants attended all site meetings as required. SCCG tailored the WMS and new operational plan and realised the project accordingly to our business growth, understanding our current and future business unique requirements.”
