The Supply Chain Consulting Group Complete Warehouse Design Project for Prometheus Medical Ltd
Prometheus Medical Ltd is a specialist medical company, delivering emergency medical support in the form of medical equipment, high-quality medical training and strategic advice. Prometheus is a supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence, UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, UK Ambulance Services, UK Police, UK Fire & Rescue, and Middle Eastern national and private organisations.
The Prometheus team has extensive clinical expertise in pre-hospital trauma care, major incident and disaster management, primary care and expeditionary medicine; for which they were honoured with the Queens Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2015 and again in 2018.
Prometheus has a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, valuing clinical credibility while offering outstanding customer support. Adhering to these core values, Prometheus enlisted The Supply Chain Consulting Group (SCCG) to design their new warehouse.
The company operated its equipment supply from two warehouses and wanted to move to a single facility for warehousing, pick/pack and distribution.
SCCG conducted an initial review of the bulk store warehouse and picking and dispatch distribution centre operations, to gain an understanding of operational requirements. In addition to an on-site review, SCCG analysed operational data and growth projections to produce a summary of the required material flows for the new facility.

Following the comprehensive review and data analysis, the SCCG team of Specialist Supply Chain and Logistics Consultants modelled various warehouse options and developed CAD drawings of the preferred design. SCCG presented the scale CAD drawings, reflecting the agreed planning horizon, showing storage and equipment layouts and defined work areas to the Prometheus team. Alongside the CAD drawings, SCCG presented recommendations for equipment requirements, specifications and cost budgets, and provided a high-level implementation plan.
