Leading manufacturer of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles with a presence in 160 countries globally.

The client is a leading manufacturer of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles with a presence in 160 countries worldwide.

The client wanted a storage solution for operations that ranged from small parts to door panels and engine picking.

Go Supply Chain’s Warehouse Consultants were able to take data from the client regarding the size and space required, such as SKU Dimensions (circa. 25k SKUs), the rate of movement and the inventory requirements, making assumptions where necessary.

Go Supply Chain needed to consider the space, equipment and labour costs, determining the right mixture of storage equipment i.e. pallet racking, shelving, storage cage and dividers and totes. From this information gathered they were also able to determine the size of the warehouse space that was required and offer solutions for the storage that would be the best fit to deliver the clients aim.

From the information given to the client by Go Supply Chain, the productivity was greatly improved, through optimal slotting of part numbers considering part characteristics, i.e. dims, weight, stock level and SKU velocity. There was a reduction in distances travelled as a result of the new facility’s location, which also improved productivity.

The media storage was greatly improved by having cages with changeable sub-dividers, racking with mesh decking for irregular and changeable loads and totes and sub-divided totes.
