Balfour works across the UK, providing essential water, gas, electricity and telecommunications distribution and maintenance services for many of the largest utility companies; providing a range of services including gas and water mains replacement, the supply and construction of overhead transmission lines, as well as metering and leakage detection, all of which contribute to the provision of essential utilities. The Supply Chain Consulting Group (SCCG) supported the Balfour management team with supply chain and logistics process and service optimisation.

The primary objective of the initial project brief for SCCG was to review Balfour’s logistics operation and identify changes needed to create an optimised business model capable of demonstrable high performance and the provision of a value for money solution to both internal and external clients. The review demonstrated how the business can be adapted to encompass ‘Best in Class’ standards of both performance and value.
